years of refusal (poem)
this, this, has been the winter of record
an inaugural drift
every waterfall was clinging
tightly to a cliff, waiting to hear
why angels rest so far from
the devil's
punch bowl
why, nature will outlast us
it has been waiting us out for years
so long we've named the rocks of its
refusal to yield to the human
every epoch a new evolution
land sliding under land,
tides turned and raised
the world knows what we do not
what will be worth saving
for itself
this, this, is in my nature
it is only natural to refuse
example tag
my solemn survival
come count my stretched marks
like rings around a lightning tree
an electric anchor
for every year of geographic record
I will starve to see the day,
for this,
I will starve to see the day
for this,
I will starve
